How I Lost My Wisdom

So, last Thursday I found myself full of self-pity, sitting on the beach with (the BEST) breakfast burrito in hand. I was trying to soak up as much sun and salt (and calories..) as physically possible because I knew I wouldn't be back at the beach (or be able to eat a breakfast burrito) for at least a week. I made the adult decision to finally get my wisdom teeth removed, and my appointment was the very next day. Like most of the young-adult American population (70% to be exact) I needed to get them removed, I had braces as a teen and these wise teeth were now crowding my other less-intelligent teeth. This was my first ever surgery, and my first time being put under using anesthesia…and I felt like a complete dufus because it was MY CHOICE to go through with it!

You might think I am diva, but this was my first ever surgery people! So I made sure to go out with a bang; my husband took me out to eat at The Boiling Crab the night before since I wouldn't be able to eat the next day. I am OBSESSED with their salty, garlicky, Cajun-spice, lemony 'whole shabang" shrimp. My hubs was looking extra cute. This was his very first time eating here and even though he could basically only eat the seafood options I don't think he minded not having a side of veggies since he had a beer ;)
The next morning we woke up extra early to drive to the dentist, only to find that my husband's new car was broken into. GREAT. This was the second time his vehicle has been broken into at our apartment After talking to the apartment manager we came to find out that my husband is the only person who has been targeted. No one else's vehicles have been broken into. So now we get to move. YAY! More on that later. I basically let all of my emotional anxiety about the upcoming surgery onto the car situation. I cried, I screamed, I cried some more…we were still on our way to the dentist. Once we arrived, I went under super easily, the staff was surprised it was my first time! I woke up in the recovery room and was immediately ready to go home, I felt sleepy but not high or weird. I slept most of the first day and only bled a little on one side.

The next day also went fine, I didn't even need the pain medication during the day, just my ibuprofen and antibiotics. I was STARVING. Tomato soup only fills you up to a point. I ate a lot of KFC mashed potatoes with gravy and eventually wanted to get out of the apartment. My doting husband drove me to get Italian ice with frozen custard to make me feel better.
Sunday was the hardest day because the right-side of my mouth wasn't healing as fast as the left-side of my mouth and I was pretty uncomfortable (I also really wanted to be able to brush my teeth). Since I was feeling especially low, I ate ice cream sundaes with my uncle while we watched Lord of the Rings (*nerd alert*). But the good news is that I was able to start eating solid foods the very next day. I am healing much faster than the average Jane, and for that I am happy because I love to eat and those three days were some of the hardest of my incredibly blessed life. Also, I don't think I like tomato soup anymore (truly heartbreaking). To end, getting my wisdom teeth pulled was not awesome, but it wasn't as bad as I had thought it was going to be.

GOOD LUCK to you if you have yet to brave the sea of losing your wisdom…I hope your battle is as painless as mine was :)

Date Night With Dustin Lynch

Up and coming artist Dustin Lynch had his album release party last night aboard the Hornblower Cruise in Marina Del Rey, CA. My husband {oh yeah, I'm married. PLOT TWIST!} and I were so excited for a date night, we both work hard and were looking forward to experiencing the more intimate venue of the ship. My husband and I were married aboard a Hornblower Cruise in Newport Beach, CA and we loved every second of the magical day we spent with friends and family on the water.
Dustin Lynch's new album "Where It's At" (famous for the single) is fresh and upbeat with songs inspired by Alan Jackson and George Strait. Dustin may just be rising but keep an eye on this talented, down to Earth, dimple-faced cowboy. The evening was a wonderful time catered with pulled-pork sliders, ceviche, and a macaroni bar. We gnoshed, enjoyed some Jack Daniels, and sang to every song he sang. We were surrounded by friendly folks and warm weather. One of my favorite parts of the evening was getting to meet Dustin, snag an autograph and of course snap a tipsy picture.
Thanks Marina Del Rey for an unforgettable evening :D

San Lorenzo Swimwear at CSULB

Have you heard of San Lorenzo bikinis? Make sure to check them out if you haven't. San Lorenzo is Hawaii's premium bikini company...I have a male coworker who went to college in Hawaii and even he knows about San Lorenzo (and he loves them of course). California babes are pretty lucky because we have the only store outside of their locations in Hawaii, the California location is in Newport Beach. San Lorenzo's bathing suits are made out of premium fabrics in the most gorgeous exclusive prints, not to mention their cheeky but flattering styles. You can probably tell I am a {huge} fan.
Well bikini lovers at Cal State Long Beach were privileged to have the opportunity to check out SL's pop up shop on campus on Tuesday, September 9th, 2014. The pop up shop may have been small, but it did not disappoint. I made sure to grab a few bottoms from retired collections, and a top in the Rio Beach print. They also threw in the cutest little pineapple temporary tattoo. My only quable with the brand is that both of the bottoms I bought are a size XL. I'm not a stick thin girl, I admittedly am pretty curvy {love yourself!} but I really don't understand their sizing. Acacia bikinis sizing also puzzles me, but more on them later. The teeny red bottoms looked like a semi retro cut but once on they are modern and flirty. The ruffle bum bottoms (also a size XL) are a tad too big since there isn't any elastic on the cheeks, but the adjustable tie sides help. I am pretty obsessed with the 'Rio' print triangle top, considering it can be reversed to black. I am a gurfer (girl-surfer) and would not recommend these bikinis for surfing. But I would highly recommend these bikinis for tanning, beach lounging, and even catching the eyes of cute surfers (I got hit on TWICE wearing my new top and the red bottoms!).
Don't shed any tears if you missed out on this pop up shop, because San Lorenzo at Fashion Island in Newport Beach is having a HUGE blowout sale this weekend! They will have bikinis up to 80% off, 80% OFF LADIES!!!!! They will also be giving gifts to the first five shoppers in line. Make sure you get there early, the earlier the better if you want to be one of the first five shoppers (girls get there HOURS early, seriously). I also recommend planning this with a few girlfriends; designate someone as the driver, designate someone as the bringer of coffee/juice, and maybe even shoot for a celebratory brunch afterwards! The sale will be running Saturday September 13th and 14th from 9am-8pm.
ALOHA! *Also note this is not a paid advertisement. **I spoke with the two women running the pop-up shop and they informed me that there will be two registers open for this sale to hopefully cut down on the wait in the lines. I have shopped one of their sales before and left empty handed after waiting over an hour in line just to get into the store. Mak sure to follow me, San Lorenzo, and their gorgeous model on Instagram!
